There is a lot of information on greyhounds on the Internet. Here are a few sites that I like or that I know provide good information about greyhounds. I will be adding more in the months to come, this is just a start.
Greytalk.com is a site where greyhound lovers gather to talk about adoption after racing. There is a tremendous amount of information on greyhound health, behaviour, and just fun stuff. If you like greyhounds or want to know what they look like, you have got to check out the Cute and Funny forum. Warning: make sure your mouth is empty before you see some of the photos.
Celebrating Greyhounds is a magazine devoted to greyhounds as pets.
Hope for Hounds is a business that raises money to send to Dr. Guillermo Couto at the University of Ohio, where research is being done on osteosarcoma in greyhounds.
And this is the site that describes Dr. Couto's work: The Greyhound Health and Wellness program. I think that this paragraph, taken straight from their about us page, says it all: “The GHWP provides a free consultation service for owners of retired racers and their veterinarians. Dr. Couto and his team spend 1-2 hours a day responding to e-mails and answering phone calls on problems in the breed.”
GreytHealth with Dr. Suzanne Stack is a wonderful resource on greyhound health. There is even a link for greyhound myths in greyhound health care. Excellent resource.
No Fear Training is a wonderful resource for anyone thinking of adopting a greyhound read.
